What to expect in a lesson
VOICE
Voice lessons are carefully catered to each individual’s ability and goals. Jayanthi believes strongly in healthy, tension free singing through moment and body awareness. During lessons you will learn about how your body works and how to properly breathe. Students will learn basic music theory and note reading. Vocal exercises will be crafted to your specific vocal strength and weaknesses to teach you about your voice, placement, and resonance. You will work on an array of repertoire to solidify vocal technique and expressivity. Expect to experiment and explore new sounds in unusual and creative ways. First and foremost, Jayanthi wants to help you find your own voice and gain confidence while having fun. Jayanthi suggests 45-60 minute voice lessons depending on the student's age and experience. |
PIANO
Jayanthi’s love and experience with children allows her to connect and encourage young students on the piano. During your child’s piano lesson, students will participate in numerous activities both on and off the piano. Concepts are learned and strengthened using games, coloring, and the imagination. Students will learn basic music theory, note reading, and the healthy way to play the piano through new songs as well as songs they already know and love. Jayanthi’s energetic, positive approach guides students as they explore and learn about music. Students will be captivated as they discover the music they create with their own fingertips. Jayanthi suggests 30 minute piano lessons, although for young students shorter lessons can be arranged as needed. Parent Disclaimer: For new piano students, parents must be present at lessons. It is important that you understand concepts and tasks so your child can practice at home under your guidance until correct and effective practice techniques are established. As your child improves, your role will decrease. I provide various materials to use at home to aid your child’s music growth. |
