Her experience ranges from large classes of eighty-two students to small classes of fifteen to thirty-two students. Jayanthi supports using the National Music Standards and has taught them to all ages and levels. Movement is an integral part of Jayanthi’s music lessons, particularly with young students. Incorporating kinesthetic movements on a daily basis not only deepens students’ understanding, but also keeps classroom management problems and student distractions to a minimum. Jayanthi uses music to aid transitions, which increases music, social, and behavioral learning opportunities. In the video to the left, kindergarten students are kinesthetically demonstrating their comprehension of a descending melodic line. As the melody descends, the snowmen melt. |
